Green University of Bangladesh

This is an honour to inform you that the Department of Law of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) organized a ‘Felicitation Program’ for the newly enrolled advocates of the Bangladesh Bar Council and the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in the 2021-2023 sessions on Permanent Campus on 16th June 2023. The program was initiated with a recitation from the Holy Quran and Gita. Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh presided over the program. Honorable Attorney-General for Bangladesh, Mr. Abu Mohammed Amin Uddin graced the program as the Chief Guest.

Mr. Sheikh Md. Morshed, Additional Attorney-General of Bangladesh and Ms. Shamima Afroze, Senior District Judge, Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal, Gazipur graced this program as ‘Special Guests’. This program was convened by Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Dean, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Arts and Social Science, GUB and held in the precious presence of Dr. Fayzur Rahman, Professor, Dept. of EEE and Treasurer, GUB, Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman, Assistant Professor and Chairperson, other respected Chairmen, faculties and guests.

In this program, Md. Yousuf Patwary and SM Ashikuzzaman as representatives from enrolled advocates delivered their speeches and expressed their gratitude to the program for arranging such a congratulatory program which will morally boost the enrolled advocates.

Special Guest, Mr. Sheikh Md. Morshed said that good advocates are becoming rare and in order to be good advocates, honesty, dedication, and patience are the key skills.

Special Guest, Madam Shamima Afroze stated that new advocates must possess the necessary analytical skill, presentation skill, and self-assurance as well as they should study all types of books to successfully face the challenges of the profession.

Respected Chairman, Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman shared that through patience, dedication, sincerity and honesty, the newly enrolled advocates will be able to prepare themselves as successful lawyers and thus play a significant role in establishing the rule of law. He urged them to learn from senior advocates to be successful in this profession.

Respected Treasurer, Dr. Fayzur Rahman said that new advocates must lead honest lives and be responsible in their advocacy profession. He also expressed that alumni students should assist the new advocates in this profession.

Addressing as Chief Guest Honorable Attorney-General for Bangladesh, Mr. Abu Mohammed Amin Uddin prioritized ‘Advocacy’ over politics for flourishing in the advocacy profession, as this is an aristocratic profession that requires responsibility to maintain the honor of this profession. He also mentioned that advocates must increase their learning and advised advocates not to cater wrong advice to the clients. Prioritizing honest earnings by advocates, he focused that disrespect of the judiciary by the advocates is equivalent to disrespect of the advocates themselves.

Convener, Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab said that through various struggles, a law student becomes an advocate and to succeed in this profession, hard work and perseverance are required. She optimistically expressed that the limited law seats in the law department will facilitate the entry of brilliant students in the law profession.

Chief Guest Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir said that enrolled advocates have the responsibility to contribute not only to politics but also to society, they should feel proud of themselves as they are pride to the department as well as to the Green University of Bangladesh.

The ‘Crests’ were awarded to around 60 (Sixty) enrolled advocates by the respected guests. ‘Souvenirs’ were also distributed among them by the department. Last but not the least, the ‘Cake-cutting’ ceremony enhanced the vigor, charm and enthusiasm of this program.
