MOU Signing with the International Labour Organization

We are pleased to share that the Department of Law, Green University of Bangladesh, has successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on 8th May 2025. The signing ceremony took place at the Holiday Inn, 23 Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Avenue, Sharani 1208, Dhaka.

This two-year joint venture aims to integrate International Labour Standards into the labour law curriculum, provide training for labour law instructors, initiate a mentorship program, and offer additional support to instructors to ensure they can deliver advanced education to students. We, at the Department of Law, firmly believe that this collaboration with the ILO will significantly contribute to achieving our commitment to academic excellence and aligning with global standards in legal education.

The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of A H M Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment; Tuomo Poutiainen, Country Director of the ILO Country Office in Bangladesh; Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Chairperson of the Labour Reform Commission; and Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

On behalf of Green University of Bangladesh, Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman, Chairperson of the Department of Law, signed the MOU. He was accompanied by three other faculty members: Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan – Associate Professor and Proctor, Mr. Shariful Islam – Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, and Mr. Aynal Haque – Lecturer and Focal Point for MOU coordination.

The Department of Law extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Green University of Bangladesh for providing continuous support and motivation throughout the process.
